Our society has divided itself into us and them, and people with opposing points of view, cultures, races, or religious affiliations are treated with suspicion and disrespect. It is never easy to question a stranger, and many of us have difficult jobs interviewing very difficult and sometimes downright frightening people. This book is intended for upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as professionals in mental health and criminal justice. It is less a book about how to ask questions and more about bringing an advanced level of understanding about communication across cultures and topics.
