Watch as Saulo interviews Baret Yoshida after recording this Guest Seminar Series for the BJJ Library.
Baret Yoshida Series 1 – Loop Choke
Barest Yoshida opens this series by demonstrating how he used this sleeper Loop Choke to put his opponent to sleep during the Nationals competition when the opponent attempted to pass Baret’s guard while gripping his trouser legs at the knees.
Baret Yoshida Series 2 – Crucifix Choke
In this session, Baret continues with one of his favorite postures. This time, it’s the Crucifix Choke. Watch how he sets up the choke while shifting to his opponent’s back.
Baret Yoshida Series 3 – Triangle Choke
Baret continues his run with another choking. To obtain the pass, use a belt grip and hold the wrist while flicking the leg from the closed guard posture.
Baret Yoshida Series 4 – Countered Belt Triangle Choke Variations
In this video, Baret demonstrates two solutions if your opponent counters your triangle choke attempt. Keeping cool in times like these will help you to detect the new chance that has presented itself and react with these variations utilizing the same set up as the Triangle Choke.
Baret Yoshida Series 5 – Belt Grip Triangle Choke Variation
Baret is still working on what to do if your opponent counters your belt grip triangle choke attempt. This time, demonstrate how to lock in an arm bar.
Baret Yoshida Series 6 – Kimura Lock from Side Control
In this video, Baret demonstrates a Modified Kimura Lock from Side Control. This technique is especially beneficial if your opponent attempts to fight the first Kimura by locking his or her hands together. The instructions in this video will offer you a second chance to tap your opponent with the Kimura.
Baret Yoshida Series 7 – Crucifix Choke
Baret continues the course by demonstrating us how to transition to a Crucifix Choke if your opponent successfully defends the Modified Kimura Lock from Side Control covered in the previous lesson.
Closed Guard vs. Baret Yoshida Series 8
In this video, Baret demonstrates a method for transitioning from the Closed Guard position and taking your opponents back to finish with any variety of chokes.
Baret Yoshida Series 9 – Choke from the Back Mount
In this video, Baret demonstrates one of his favorite chokes. Starting from the back mount, he secures the choke while rolling his opponent under his armpit.
Baret Yoshida Series 10 – Choke choke from the Butterfly Guard
Baret demonstrates another of his favorite chokes, this time starting from the Butterfly Guard and utilizing an under hook to pull your opponent into your Full Guard and end with a choke.
Baret Yoshida Series 11 – Kimura Lock Defense
In this video, Baret demonstrates a highly effective defense against a Kimura Lock by placing your free arm on the inside of your opponent’s arm and using it as leverage to pull out the arm your opponent is attempting to lock up.
Baret Yoshida Series 12 – Triangle Choke Escape
After demonstrating us a variety of chokes to utilize against your opponent, Baret concludes his choke session with a Triangle Choke escape. Knowing how to avoid a choke attempt by an opponent is useful information to have from both an offensive and defensive standpoint.
