Submission Arts Wrestling (SAW) is a contemporary Japanese Martial Art and Combat Sport based on Catch Wrestling that integrates aspects from Sambo and Judo. SAW was founded in the 1980s by Hidetaka Aso, a pupil of Karl Gotch, and is a NO-GI grappling style that concentrates on forcing opponents to submit through the use of choke chains and joint locks. SAW’s various varieties of deadly leglocks are one of its hallmarks. SAW, like its predecessor, believes that establishing a position or a hold can result in a submission. Submission Arts Wrestling is based on sound technical concepts, live sparring sessions, and particular conditioning.
