Jane Austen – Persuasion
Salepage : Jane Austen – Persuasion
Persuasion is Jane Austen’s final finished novel. It was published six months after her death, towards the end of 1817. The plot revolves around Anne Elliot, a 27-year-old Englishwoman whose family is relocating to save costs and get out of debt as the wars close and sailors return to shore. An Admiral and his wife live in their house, which they rent out. Navy Captain Frederick Wentworth, the wife’s brother, had been betrothed to Anne in 1806, and now they meet again, both single and unattached, after no touch in more than seven years. This sets the scenario for numerous hilarious interactions as well as a second, well-considered opportunity at love and marriage for Anne Elliot in her second “bloom”.
